A Sad Question
Would Beethoven have been as good if his alcoholic father hadn't beaten him when he made mistakes?

That sort of like saying that if I had not withstood all those beatings when I was a child, i would not be ass successful in martial arts today. No, the big difference is that I now know how fight back. I was taught how to do that in my martial arts classes. On the other hand, I took some awful beatings in the sparring ring to get to this level. So, maybe there is something to that. I don't know. It is a very peculiar question.

Heck. I'd guess that all those "rejections" from his Father WOULD(and could) "make" someone PURSUE "acceptance" in any way, shape, or fashion, be it music or any other creative articulation available. "Acceptance" is synonymous with both "Love" and "Appreciation" as well as being the feeling that you have "Purpose". -M-

There’s no way of knowing. Would Brian Wilson have written “Pet Sounds” if his father hadn’t abused him? I often wonder why some of the greatest artists of all time have tortured childhoods but I don’t think there’s a direct relationship between the abuse and their massive talent. However, there might be a link between adversity and the desire to overcome it through the vigorous pursuit of a particular passion, often in the arts where validation from others is a healing balm for wounds that were inflicted in the past. Creativity is very therapeutic!
