wow - being compared to Kanye is a total mindfuck. I mean, I don't know how strong I am when I think about Kim K as a wife. ..like, that melts my brain first of all, and secondly, I guess I didn't realize how douchy self genius-ing appears until you read it back, but that's not even the worst part. The worst part is considering the fact that a a simple comment like the one I made would not only frame a bloke as a royal cunt, but fall short of the low bar Kanye set, as well as having to bear the realization of not possessing the mental fortitude to conceivably endure even a fraction of the chaos and unadulterated insanity a life of a Kardashian Groom would entail. ..huh I guess after reflection, my honest answer is I don't know who the fuck I do music for.

@zeman ruckus - Kanye would never wish fuck on himself like that, but agreed, spaceship is absolutely just as douchy.

I do music for one reason: I am a fucking rock star pop icon creative fucking genius extraordinaire and fuck me and fuck others. Ask a rock, "Do you sit there to grow moss or to soak up the sun?"

I do music for a variety of purposes. When I do gospel I do it for the edification of God. When I have something deeply important to me to say, I do it for anyone who is willing to listen. When I am troubled, in pain or emotionally drained, I do it for me as a way of lifting myself up from my personal storms. Then, there are those times that I just enjoy seeing the smiles on peoples faces. That brings me great joy. I do a very brisk 4 mile power walk threw the Clayton Hills every day and part of my vocal conditioning is to sing while I am exercising. I walk the trails and I sing while going up a very steep hill. There are usually people coming down the trail and they like to stop and listen to me. I sing and they just have these great big smiles on their faces while they clap their hands to whatever song I am singing. I go through a verse or two and then continue up the hill and it feels so good inside. The original intention for me doing music was to calm the savage beast that beat me daily when I was a kid. I learned how to bring joy to the devil within that person. Over the years, I learned how to bring joy to the devils within a lot of people. But yeah, it is a multiple purposed thing for me.

I want people to like my music but I only know how to make the music I make. I really have no control over how it will be accepted or rejected or by whom. If I were told that making a different kind of music would make more people like it - I wouldn't do it if I didn't like it myself. Unconsciously I think we we all want people to like what we create whether we know it or not but I don't think it's the prime motivating factor in the creative endeavor. Artists have to create. The rest is gravy - or not.

I do music for myself, insomuch that I don't take audience reaction into account. I just make music that pleases me. And then I hope that other people like it. I know that some will and some won't, but I at least want folks to hear it so that they can make up their own minds. I guess I make it for myself and hope that it becomes something for others. Does that make sense?
