Along Comes Mary, by the Association, flagship 60s...
Well, the Association w a few hits, "Cherish", "Never My Love", "Windy," "Along Comes Mary" , Leonard Bernstein the classical/jazz conductor loved them, let's not hold that against them.

Yeah Laree, maybe that's why they couldn't keep the band together after a few years, revolving door of members, I dunno... Yeah Father Time, "Windy" was among my favs also, you may recall John Lindsay, NY mayor got a ride offa the song "Everyone knows it's Lindsay." Ho ho ho...

I loved Windy in my youth. I think that and Along Comes Mary were the best records they made. The songwriting is great though. Totally love Never My Love by the 5th Dimension and Cherish by David Cassidy which by the way was a huge worldwide hit.

Yes, I remember Jakob Dylan and his band, excellent band, "One Headlight" and all that, I think he may have decided the band-touring life was not for him, after awhile??? Lars, your group feat. grand harmonies, I remember, you should know, they call the Association "sunshine pop" in the wiki article, I guess, the verse lyrics are so trippy and then BOOM, the beautiful chorus "along comes Mary...." Harmonies and jazzy patina... "Never My Love" by the Association was the most played song in the 70s & 80s on radio...

I agree Steve, great band with unbelievable harmonies. This not too subtle endorsement of marijuana was, I think, their first hit. Might've been Cherish, which also featured great harmony. But Lenny was pretty hip, as I'm sure you know. I was just watching one of his Young People's Concerts on Transmogrification the other day. In it, he used Janis Ian's "Society's Child" as an example, as well as the Moog synthesizer. He frequently used the Beatles and other rock and folk artists as examples of music theory in his Young People's lectures. And let's not forget West Side Story, which was a masterpiece. Glenn

Jakob Dylan sang a great cover of “Never My Love” on a documentary about 60’s music that he produced. It was an excellent show.
