Write one a day, aint gonna happen. not for me, maybe others feel compelled or motivated to do so, I dont. my plate is full of other more pressing matters at this time. although I do on occasion make time and do some writing, but for me, as an instru"mentalist" first and a songcrafter second. I go for writing or scoring out a song for instruments different thing all together cheers

Sure I concur, to a point IMP Shrink. but what works for some may not be something that works for others. we all work in different ways, we are wired differently. So while I agree the more you do, the better you get is a worthwhile aspiration and possible destination to success for those that grind it out, for some, I am sure,they will have a different approach and idea on that suggestion you pitched. But to just record something for the sake of getting it out there, thats vanity, and rather does injustice to ones credibility, like some tunes should never see the light of day, and I have seen many of those here at IMP and other music sites, and might add, i should delete some of my own frail attempts that lie dormant, but then again, I have found many a gem that have been orphans until i discovered them for my stations, so then again, you never know, one mans JUNK is another mans treasure. : )

There are many interesting persona's here. and we have to take them with a grain of fun and not take it all too seriously. a part of the places history and I sometimes forget to take off my serious side and put on the fun hat and play the game.its a game anyways. as for the music, we do the best we can, the word is, for me, stay in the wheelhouse one is best at. although it is fun experimenting with ideas outside of ones boundaries. stretching the limits pushing the boundaries.

Thanks Lesley but it's the truth. I have time to drive myself like a slavedriver on things I don't like to do like my work and things I like to do like my hobby. But my songs get short shrift. I have to wait for a blue moon and all conditions to be perfect to engage in my art. It's a neurosis of some kind.

Well it's a seriously long time since I posted a new song but that doesn't mean I haven't been making music. I've been spending the summer on tour drumming with Modou Diouf, our Senegalese Sabar teacher - all over the country in our van and having a gas - played three gigs as well as learning lots of new rhythms. Plus I had the honour of having one of my songs covered here so there's a new version of Easy flying around by Shoe City Sound. Hopefully I'll feel inspired to write something soon but don't hold your breath Mr Shrink. I try not to give myself a hard time about it or I get really down. I've got a band practice on Thursday and running some ideas round with another friend later this week, gigs in the pipeline and various events running round my mind. It's not only about new songs but keeping the music going, flowing and playing!
