Do you consider yourself an artist?
or do you prefer the term "artiste"?

ARTIST = a person whose creative work shows sensitivity and imagination. However if you say you are an "artist" everyone assumes you paint pictures ARTISTE = a professional performer in an artistic discipline However, the term is kinda arty farty and it's Frenchish, people who call themselves an "artiste" are doing it tongue in cheek out of embarrassment I think. You don't need to be artistic to produce a song, more likely amateur musicians are piss artists and professional ones are con artists But that's just the considered opinion of a cognoscente !
