Dick Dale - The King of the Surf Guitar.

Seventy years old this year, Dick Dale is the Grandfather of the surf guitar sound. Playing a left handed signature Stratocaster strung for a right hander with ridiculously heavy strings (Dale's string sizes are 16p, 18p, 20p. 38w, 48w, 58w...they use to be 39w, 49w, 60w.....he says he's getting lazy now) through two Fender Dual Showmans Dick is LOUD and RAW!

"Rebel Rouser" made me want to play sax! (I still do) But when I saw THIS cover I was converted to guitar (and I never realized before that the one on the left is a Danelectro!!} Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

great to see Duane Eddies name here . His " Rebel Rouser" hooked me into wanting to play guitar when about 8 years old!

Link; Duane; even Albion's master of the whammy wobble, Hank - they all deserve an honourable mention.
