Globalisation
I live in a small town in the south west corner of Australia - just about as far away from New York as it's possible to get on this planet. So it's pretty isolated here. Before I got broadband in late 2006 there was no way for me to connect my music with the rest of the world. 18 months later I'm: No2 on the BillBoard World Music Chart in the USA No1 on the Blues/RnB/Jazz Chart on a site in Germany Featured Artist in an Ezine Article in the West Indies Getting Radio Play in Bosnia/Herzegovina and Australia amongst others. Not bad for a lil ol country boy! My point is not so much vainglorification (although I couldn't resist showing off!) but that the opportunities for Indie musos are getting better all the time. And with an "industry" obsessed with "shifting product" and completely bereft of new ideas who knows what the next 18mths/5 years might have in store?

Awesome, Bruce! I am envious of you, but mostly proud to be part of the same community as you. And as all of the artists here. This is a helluva group of musicians and you, good sir, are no exception. Good work, Country Mouse. -City Mouse

Good for you, Bruce! As a stay-at-home dad who (for the moment anyway) can't get into the gigging scene at all for "lifestyle" reasons, it's absolutely FAB what the online world has done. My recent "Big Adventure" is one of the more fun examples of the way "virtual" relationships have a "real" meaning and sometimes even surprising results...keep on truckin'! H

Yeah I left Perth 5 years ago and headed to the south coast about 250 miles from there. The thing that I see becoming really big is "virtual bands" forming from communities like this. I know it's already happening but I've still got to get my head around the technology involved - And I've already got a technophobic backlog: I've just bought a new camera, a Korg Workstation ( I always thought midi was a glass of beer!) and a phone with a camera and blue teeth! THREE Japenglish instruction manuals - I REALLY need that cup of tea and lie down!

Congrats on your accomplishments Bruce and hi from the other side of Aus :) I'm guessing you are somewhere near Perth? There are just so many opportunities for us as indie artists now. It is a very exciting time. Technology and the internet have become powerful allies for us. All it takes is a little imagination (something we are all familiar with) and a passion to be the best we can and share our dreams as the become reality!!

I love your easy view of things sometimes Bruce and I agree it is pretty phenominal to make your mark on the World stage without shifting away from the cozy outback. Personally I would have trouble even spelling 'Bosnia Hertz... Herstigo...Virtigo....' Nice to think that a fact that makes you and us smile can be really important in some place we will probably never visit except on line.

I remember the introduction of B&W TV. Crowds used to gather on the pavement outside the electrical stores and watch the bank of TVs showing "Rawhide" and such. I remember Sputnik1 flying overhead; turning on the lights for John Glenn; holding my breath for Apollo 13 (Houston we have a problem); cheering for the moon landing..... I think I need a nice cup of tea and a lie down!

Kind of mind boggling isn't it ! ... I remember black and white T.V. (my kids still can't fathom that thought) ... We grew up with a tube radio and I was amazed at getting my first trusty Am Transistor Radio ! .... Now the speed of technology is phenomenal.. Hey congrats on the accomplishments B.J. !
