What ELSE Have You Got In Your Studio?
A while back there was a thread where people posted pix of their studios. Of course it was all equipment - some of it pretty impressive.
Well I turned the camera the other way. Turned my back to the desk and snapped a pic of the rest of the room. Yeah I've got a railway in my studio! (Half finished - like everything else)
Anyone else got something interesting to show??

I nearly started a "Great Maritime Disasters" model kit collection instead - The Titanic, The Bismark and The Hood, The Kursk - you can get kits for all of them these days. But the only "Mary Rose" kit cost nearly $500! So I stuck with trains.

Bruce, You are very lucky to have a train set in your studio!! I wish I did, what's left of mine is sitting in a box upstairs under the roof...However there is a model of the Titanic and a model of the Bounty which I built from an Aereopiccola kit back in 1970. Vincenzo

"You haven't got IAD (Instrument Acquisition Disorder) have you Lace? You wouldn't be the only one." LOL no Bruce, unlike Titania (wow, what a setup!) I've got a pretty minimal amount of equipment (keys/sound module/drum machine/2 PAs/2 guitars/tascam/5 minidiscs) all just packed into a teeny room. ~Lace~

Actually I do have another room set up as my gym. Here's a short video and a couple of pics showing it....

Bruce that's impressive! Loved the story of delivering coffee on the tracks, maybe a song there :) Superpuss your studio is divine & Lace we know the feeling, almost every nook & cranny is taken up with equipment here too, trouble is when we start tidying to see what we can get rid of we end up finding old songs or photos etc., and before we know it the day has passed in a blur of nostalgia & the work space gets smaller by the year!

impressive studio pics alltogether! being a keyboard player, I am glad not to suffer from IAD (Instrument Acquisition Disorder) 8-) Now that would be expensive! Today in Breandan´s studio we have Patrick - i.e. our guitar player, since today is a further album recording session for him Cheers, and enjoy your studios!

You haven't got IAD (Instrument Acquisition Disorder) have you Lace? You wouldn't be the only one. It's highly contagious in communities like this. Titania that is so neat and tidy. I was half expecting a fully equipped gym...or do you have another room for that? Steve I did try and deliver a mug of coffee with the train once. Ended up with a flood - still it made very realistic muddy puddles!

Great setup, SP. The couch gives it a great, homie feel. Btw, Bruce- LOVE the train set. Maybe you could use the train set to bring you strings for your varied instruments. I like the slideshow of your instruments- there are a lot of really hip instruments I'd like to check out.

My cat usually spots me with the camera and makes sure he is in the photo but he was occupied with a bowl of food as I was taking this pic.

Well my studio used to be whole the end of my den, but I got tired of equipment out all the time so I crammed it into a small extra room off the den and now the only stuff that will fit in the space is.. equipment... ~Lace~

Steve I think you may have selected the img code on your Photobucket page. Make sure you select the html code.
Maria the railway goes round 3 ot the 4 walls leaving the doorway clear. Here's the main station on the other side of the room (I wasn't going to show this one, it's kinda embarrassing - those boxes are full of unsold CDs!)

Thanks srm, that's a mighty age for a cat to live to, good living for sure :) And you reminded me of our bass player's dog Dingo, sometimes he would bring her to gigs & she'd sit all night by his side, yep right beside the bass drum! Bruce I meant to ask if your railway will go the whole perimeter of the room? & Rob, Temba sounds the same as these two & our cat is always aloof to their games which is very amusing to watch sometimes, catch up later all :)

Apart from a stack of dead amps and speakers in the corner ------- We have 3/4 pool table, unfinished artworks, and all my grown up kids junk! Love your railway Bruce---confirms your eccentricity!! Temba---- my giant dog waves a paw to Maria & Pauls canines------and pretends to ignore those wonderful moggies!( he actually loves our cat but hates to be seen doing so!)

Incidentally, I may be a 'cat person', but I really like your dogs, Maria. A dog can be a very calming influence in a practise space. A former bandmate had a three-legged dog named Happy that became a 'mascot' for the group. He HAD to be deaf, because he liked to sleep in the drummer's bass drum.

Attack cat's a fine looking cat. My kids had one that looked very similar called Boos who lived to be 19.

Steve: you just copy and paste the whole html code from your Photobucket account into the comments box as is. I just put back the parts of the string that were missing. Hugh: Get yourself a Photobucket (or similar) account, upload a photo and it'll give you a html code. Then just paste it into the comments box. To overcome the problem of size try and ensure the original pic is no more than about 100k.

post a pic copy and paste this.... img src="http://yourlink.com/http://anypicturelink.jpg" then replace the http part with the properties of your pic ... Then put one of these < in front of it and pne of these > behind it...

How do you post a pic in a blog? My studio's a wreck at present and I'm sure at least one other home recording freak would get a nice laugh from it...but I dunno how...

Madi & Jeff curled up beside my pc
They've become accustomed to the intermittent bursts of sound & sleep through it all, they seem to like it and feel the music room is their home too, Jeff (terrier) once went to sleep on a pedal & removed a whole track LOL, we recently needed Madi to bark to order on her song 'dog walker' & it was the one & only time she didn't bark when I knocked on the window haha, but we got there in the end!
