Sometimes I feel like society is against indies
It's this whole idea of 'shameless self promotion', a phrase I see popping up all the time, all over the web. With the insinuation that a normal person would be ashamed to put our links out there the way we do. What's to be ashamed of? Who else is going to promote us if we don't. i resent the characterization.

Hey, I've had friends no even wanting to look up IMP. They don't know what they're missing, I would tell them.

I often send an mp3 to various friends and relatives nd they always respond with a comment. They all follow me at IMP and it's great. But lately, I've been sending the IMP link via text to neighbors who I wouldn't call "friends" but they're folks in my building whom I've known for years and we're all very "friendly". Not one person mentioned anything about the link which kind of blew my mind. I've been meaning to ask them about it but feel awkward in doing so - seems desperate. I could give other examples of this kind of thing but suffice to say that I think that people are just too preoccupied, too busy, don't listen to music much, too overwhelmed by covid or the political divide or take your pick! It seems the people who really care about music are people actually involved in the music scene. But I do agree with you, Scott that there is no shame in promoting one's music or promoting our website but it seems harder than ever. Nonetheless, this will not deter me from spreading the word.
