Are You The Best There Is?
In my hello thread i asked for you to suggest good music for me to listen to.Many people kindly pointed me in the direction of Stations where there was a variety of songs from many artists for me to listen to.(Thankyou) Many people in the thread and on my page here suggested that i start with listening to them. Do most artists believe their music is the very, very best on the site, thats why they suggest you should listen to them first? Are all the artists who self promote themselves forcefully here generally the very very best? Don't they like other peoples music here? And the reason some are more shy or modest is because their music is not as good? Just asking!

Well sorry Bob, it followed a post in which she was talking to me. Em is Me backwards :) sorry I got it out of context...

I could never hope to bust out somebody that has their shit together like you, Jesse.
12/16/2008, 5:24 PM
Yes I've noticed... however your effort's have fallen short. Keep trying banana I have faith in you.
12/16/2008, 5:19 PM
No Jesse, I have other purposes, like traumatizing you. :D As for February, enquiring minds still want to know why she brought falsified geological info to the pipeline?
12/16/2008, 2:14 PM
"I was just pointing out that you made an errant statement." After all, that is banana's sole purpose in life so it would seem. Listen to Todd. He is the best.
12/16/2008, 12:00 PM
Oh Bob, your the one that suggested the "set up" :) I am just voicing my opinion as well.. No need to "get me" I am harmless... :)

"Physiological psychology is a subdivision of biological psychology that studies the neural mechanisms of perception and behavior through direct manipulation of the brains of nonhuman animal subjects in controlled experiments" I like the Non Human part :) February, it was not meant to be patronizing or condecending. I interjected if I was wrong I apologize...... There is no doubt many 'Anon" personalities here, it is not a stretch to think you my dear are one as well. If that is your real face, it is indeed pretty, and Nordtroms does not take just anybody in their catalog...so you see it was actually a compliment. To be anonymous is not a bad thing,, indeed there are good reasons to be anonymous with alll the loons about....but some are "alter egos" so its hard to know who is real or who is a figment of a talented imagination. Anyway, its just an observation...I still think your questions are a bit different...I mean no disrespect whoever you are. Its just the nature of IAC at the moment, anons...they are everywhere...and its neither here nor there. Its still about the music . Peace and please forgive me if I offended you... Regards, Jeff

"They just have confidence in what they do and are very willing to share it with a new "Pretty" face...even if that face is selling the winter collection at Nordstroms..." I think it would be unfair to suggest all the artists here would share your patronising and condescending manner Jeff!
12/16/2008, 11:15 AM
Well, she was one of 'em! And Jeff... you never really do know, do you? I choose to believe that I am the best. And I'm sticking to my story! Anyway... you all are changing the subject: I am the best.
12/16/2008, 11:10 AM
"I have made love to a woman until she wept tears of joy -- on more than one occasion. And I've done it to more than one woman." Todd are you sure they weren't tears because they were thinking "Is that all there is???" :)~
12/16/2008, 10:59 AM
I have made love to a woman until she wept tears of joy -- on more than one occasion. And I've done it to more than one woman. So, if I'm not the best there is, I'm still pretty damn good.
12/16/2008, 10:55 AM
I wasn't defending FT, I was just pointing out that you made an errant statement. Now when it comes to the question of whether or not you playing a song could cause it to rot from the inside, that's something that would probably be classified as an unknown, has to do with the metaphysical, as in wicked witches and the like. :D
12/16/2008, 10:47 AM
"Fool's Gold (Iron Pyrite) is actually a brittle substance so it doesn't rot from the inside, either. You should do more research on your minerals before coming on this pipeline trying to declare yourself an expert." I never declared myself a mineral expert I never declared myself any kind of expert! Why are you defending Father when he was the one suggested gold rotted from the inside? A child would know that's not true! What sort of Father knows less than a child?!
12/16/2008, 10:40 AM
February, you came on here with a very nice face and a welcoming smile...One that no one can find fault with. You started with some very innocent questions, and then they began to morph into something much more. Your questions are very suspect for an average listener, bordering on psychological games with the artists here. "Psychological" may be too big a word, and I may be giving you too much credit. To be completely honest, I have some doubts on your authenticity. If these are unfounded, I sincerely apologize. It's just too easy to create an account, post a pic, and start a new personality.. Your unassuming, pretty face looks more at home in a catalog selling winter clothing then on this site asking probing questions. You asked for music here, and many were very happy to point you in their direction, I can't find fault with that.. but you found a way to put another motive to the responses. "Do most artists believe their music is the very, very best on the site, thats why they suggest you should listen to them first? Are all the artists who self promote themselves forcefully here generally the very very best? Don't they like other peoples music here? And the reason some are more shy or modest is because their music is not as good? Just asking!" I am not sure why these questions are important, if you are here to listen to good music, you received introductions from some very good people who also want to share their music. The word "forcefully" has a very negative tone about it. Most on here want to share their music, and most do not get caught up on who is "The Best". They just have confidence in what they do and are very willing to share it with a new "Pretty" face...even if that face is selling the winter collection at Nordstroms... Peace, Jeff

"So, smiley one, did you listen to my music yet? After all, I was the first on this blog to make the ultimate proclamation. How can you not be totally intrigued? :)" Hello Father! No i havn't listened yet as there are many stations recommended for me to listen to first. So many here have made the ultimate proclamation too,but i'd be more convinced if other people said it about you rather than you just saying it about yourself!
12/15/2008, 3:35 PM
Alright then. I think it's great you're searching the unknowns. As for "best," when things reach a level of "quality," to me they're just different one from the other. My intent is quality.
12/15/2008, 11:46 AM
Each of us has something different to offer, our own unique whatever it is, and beauty is in the eyes of the beholder....

I'm astoundingly clever and devastatingly handsome... But these two admirable characteristics are undone by my habits of being a legendary layabout and a hot air saloonist

"Susan gives you a couple pages of her tunes, and you ask, "well who do you like that's better than you?" I don't get what's wrong with her first answer" I never said there was anything 'wrong' with her first answer Bob.She said 'there was always someone better to knock you down a peg or 2 if you claim you're the very very best'.I followed her reasoning and asked who'd done that to her, thats all.
12/14/2008, 6:57 PM
Hey ... I'm the best ... It's just that the rest of the world isn't quite in sync with that premise. ... YET!!!! I am going to be SOOO wealthy when I hit ... ... after I'm dead. Damn. lol ... K-

Do wanna add that it is very cool the way so many people do round up a variety of artists and make stations that get them out to others. I'm not one of them, and I feel guilty about that... I just try to make a thing worth a station. But I think it is very cool... I also think it should be a natural extension of what would happen if artists do their jobs and hit those nerves...
12/14/2008, 5:04 PM
I guess my point is I think it's beautiful when people love their creations.... More power to their fire... But it's cool you're digging into the world of the unknowns... Well, I don't know if everyone else is unknown. I'm definitely nobody from nowhere... And I'm meaning you no harm.
12/14/2008, 4:57 PM
I am the best Hop On Pop-style musician that there is. And, honestly, I think that I make some pretty good music. And, it's only getting better.
12/14/2008, 4:54 PM
I don't get it. You have no problem with someone offering their own music when you ask, "Where's the good music?" Then your thread has no meaning. Just seems like a set up to me. Susan gives you a couple pages of her tunes, and you ask, "well who do you like that's better than you?" I don't get what's wrong with her first answer.
12/14/2008, 2:00 PM
---don't be offended February----there have been some previous blogs about anonymous posters using multiple identities--(which is what i refered to) Many musos here do promote their own work in both subtle and blatant ways---- 'best' is hard one----we all love to be heard though!!!
12/14/2008, 1:43 PM
"Why would you have a problem with people offering their own music up when you ask them for good music?" Hello Bob.I never said i had a problem with that! I was just suprised that most people suggested themselves.I thought listeners here would suggest their personal favourites based on the music taste i said i had.It came as a suprise to me when so many suggested themselves, thats all.I didn't know nearly everyone who comes here was an artist wanting to promote themselves first and foremost-as i'm not an artist, just a listener. It seems from the answers given here most artists do consider themselves the very very best though.
12/14/2008, 1:21 PM
---please tell me------- you aren't just perfect banana with a wrap scarf??
12/14/2008, 1:13 PM
yes I would think that most of us here would think our own individual music is good music and that's one reason why I presented it to you. Now I can only take it as an insult when you change gears and ask the new question, do you think it's the very, very best. I wouldn't have brought you my music if you had stated it that way. If you are who you present yourself to be, then welcome with open arms. But trust me anyone can put up a picture give them self a name and start asking physiological question to start controversy. Like I said if you are real, then this is all very cool. But I for one don't like to be fooled. peace

Feb, you look like the skinny guy from "take that", "Mark", with a wig............. no dis mind :)

I deserve recognition and enthusiastic praise to enforce my opinions and to RULE the world! ...........then; from my obvious brilliance to my subtle beauty, I would relax and thank the God I'd invent for choosing ME above others.

"Yes, I'm the best lover there is. That's what you meant, right? :-) And Sterling, Feb is much more hotter than Heather Mills. Look at those voluptuous lips! Musically, I'm good enough, but always trying to get better." Rule 28) Always question a person's gender - just in case it's really a man. Rule 29) In the internet all girls are men and all kids are undercover FBI agents. Rule 30) There are no girls on the internet. Love always, Gremislav

I'm not the best, but I am good. But in the famous words of Lavar Burton, you don't have to take my word for it. Click my name! ;)

Okay ... you've forced it out of me. Yes, I'm the best there is. The rest of you will just have to deal with it. lol ... Kev-

i was watching one my "guilty pleasure" TV shows: America's Next Top Model and when Tyra asked each model who they they thought the best model was, they all said somebody other than themselves which they assumed was the "correct" thing to say. But the one girl who said she herself was the best was considered the only one who had the right attitude for achieving success.
12/13/2008, 2:59 PM
Why would you have a problem with people offering their own music up when you ask them for good music? It almost seems like a set-up. You ask them what is the good music, and they offer what they have done and then you kind of poke fun at them. I don't see anything wrong with them offering their tunes, that's what I'd think was their main function if they believe in their art.
12/13/2008, 10:10 AM
Yes, I'm the best lover there is. That's what you meant, right? :-) And Sterling, Feb is much more hotter than Heather Mills. Look at those voluptuous lips! Musically, I'm good enough, but always trying to get better.

Hi February. You've come to the right place here at IAC to get a really broad range of honest music that's not regulated by the mainstream record companies. Have fun checking out and listening to all the great artists works here. OH, and.......since you're in a listening mood, here's a few of mine. Duane Flock D.
12/13/2008, 6:22 AM
Haha - well okay, the Silverwood's beat me to the KIAC award last year, and Gina French is AWESOME too! But I guess my point is that if one is shy or modest, then one might well remain undiscovered forever, whereas we want people to hear and enjoy our music, we consider it to be of a good high standard and also to be catchy and very uplifting!
12/13/2008, 6:21 AM
"Do most artists believe their music is the very, very best on the site, thats why they suggest you should listen to them first?" Nope, That's why I only said hello and welcomed you to the site. :) "Are all the artists who self promote themselves forcefully here generally the very very best? " Nope.... They are just active here and proud of their music... everyone likes to be heard. "And the reason some are more shy or modest is because their music is not as good? Just asking!" Nope, I am just Shy and Modest (wink) You ask some good questions,.they are all fair. I did not see any "forceful Promoting" on your thread , maybe "earnest" is a better word. Most are very proud of what they do, and are always looking to share it with someone new. This site has thousands of songs, I guess a little self promoting is warranted and understandable, most sitting quietly at the back of class are not called upon, and sometimes ignored. We have had conversations using terms like "Best" here on the site. Although there are Artists and songs clearly better then others, you will still never get "The Best" only one subjective opinion of what "The Best: is. If you spend time on the site long enough, going through the station charts and listening to songs, you can find some really great music...Then you can decide who "The Best" are. I do understand wanting an introduction, and the need to get pointed in the direction. But in the end, it is your individual taste that will determine who, or what songs represent the Best at IAC. In any case, there are many levels of musicians and writers here...some very new to the craft, and some are world class writers and musicians. Welcome to IAC, I hope you like it here.. Regards, Jeff
12/13/2008, 5:52 AM
"Are you the best there is?" Hell no, or I wouldn't be promoting my music like crazy and would have MANY others promoting ME, but like Larree -- I'm the ONLY pHLeGm out there. That's what I bring to IAC. PLUS -- (great picture by the way--- you look happy!) I give you TWO stations with DOZENS of tunes by varied IAC Artists from all over the map and EVERY Genre: PHLEGM PHAVORITES PHIFTY PHLEGM PHAVORITES -love that your willing to post up in here, with all the crazy artists like me populating the blogs !!! -Luv, pHLeGm
12/13/2008, 5:37 AM
Hi again Susan-Well some people say on other threads that they just put music up because they enjoy it and don't think they're the best or anything. Most people who've recommended me stations they've made have songs from lots of artists on them, whereas you have just put links to 2 stations filled full of only your own songs! If these are the stations you love the most and feel represent your favourite music here, you must indeed consider yourself very close to the very very best on the site! Has someone you consider the 'very very best' here knocked you down a peg or 2 then here as you say? Who were they?
12/13/2008, 5:20 AM
All good questions... As an artist, one has to believe that what one does is really good, or else what would be the point? And there is so much music on the web that one has to do some self-promotion, especially when asked, because otherwise one remains completely invisible. As for being "the very, very best on the site", that's a dangerous view to hold because there is always somebody better waiting to knock you down a peg or two :) So, by way of further promotion, have you heard my album preview stations? If you would like to, here's Ravensong and Glittering Cities... enjoy!
