New, Improved Indieland Collaboration Page
The new, improved, supermegarad Indieland Collaboration Page now has the most current version of the tune (updated frequently, cuz that's how I roll) along with new guide tracks to help you with your ultrafab contibutions. Thrill to the yearning vocals of The Man with No Band, the awesomeness that is JAWZ, and the soulful stylings of Chris George from Eaglehead.

Thanks for the kind words - I've had a chance to have my very first listen to the "ensemble" version, and it's shaping up nicely! Rock on, everybody...I'm looking forward to having another go at the choruses when it's time... :) Hugh

Hey, Thats alot better, I was beginning to think those guitars didn't have any continuity, Somehow Hugh made it seem smoother. Now lets keep those choruses tight, I did the choruses in a loop like 10 times before I got the phrasing right. Ha, I can hear Hugh harmonizing with himself on his verse, I did that too. Getting better but I was scared for a minute there. Peace John

Fired off a bit of vocals and some axe-work via e-mail...hope at least a little of it will pass the audition...thanks to everyone for "playing along" with my little group-collab fantasy...and thanks to the ringleaders for doing the "heavy lifting"...

Hey this was a lot of fun - look forward to hearing the final version. I'm amazed with technology these days, to be able to put something like this together and never actually be in the same room.(city, country) Definitely opens the mind to what can be done... Loved everyone's input so far. -Carolyn

Hi, All - I want to apologize for my absence of late, which is due to the usual daily time restrictions - I haven't had time to download or listen or record or read the entries here, but I'm IN as committed and will make my best effort to get some studio time over the weekend for my vocal lines, and if there's still a need for any guitar I'll gladly give it a shot... Rock on, Indies!

I would never ignore ewe. To get things straight - let's define the sections of the song as defined arbitrarily by me. First 4 bars - intro Next 16 - verse Next 8 - verse-chorus transition Next 8 chorus Repeat solo over verse directly into chorus, then verse v-c trans 2 choruses coda (hope that's right) When you ask if you should add a harmony, I need to know where. As for guit solos here's what I was toying with - have both of you do solos and build a dueling guitar thing with some alternating and overlapping ,and both blazing at the end. It's possible this is a really stupid idea. Alternatively, I could just splice in another verse.

heh heh, I just listened for the first time (been on dial up) There's a good feel, the vocal balance will be a challenge! I think the chorus should have a more blended feel ( almost choral )a falsetto would be a good addition in the chorus ( i'm not volunteering) All in all , very promising, did I hear Willie Nelson in there? these are just thoughts by the way / You are doing a huge favour for all!!!!

Seems I'm being ignored. Hello, If I am not singing a verse do you still want harmony parts? Hey, George sounds kinda like Dylan on Payote. Is Hugh still doing his part? I mean it was his dream. How many guitar solo's are going to work? Help me, help me. Help me said the little fly person. John

I think the solo by Chris Eagledood and Isle Of Ewe is gonna rock big time. I don't know how many people want to add a solo but we might have to lengthen the loop to accommodate all the guitarists.. I didnt end up with a verse, do you still want a harmony? Peace John

It would be nice to get those harmonies beefed up. Here's the deal - Jillian sent me a harmony part and I did a part to go with it. But to get the harmonies to fill out the chords nicely, my part had to go above and below Jilly's part (for you geeks, I had to cross the voices, generally not a good idea when part writing for voice.) That makes for a very awkward part to sing and get a good blend. I've written out two parts that cover the same notes but are broken into parts that are really easy to sing. Drop me a line if you're interested at iaccollab@mp3forkidz.com . If you read music, I'll just send you notation. If not, I'll play the parts on the piano and send you an mp3. That was a bit verbose, wasn't it?
