Shine on you Crazy Diamond. In memory of Syd Barrett
Today is a sad day. Syd Barrett is dead and all the Floyds' fans have lost an important part of their lives. Syd was more of the "former guitarist of British psychedelic band named Pink Floyd". He wrote almost the whole first album of the band "The Piper of the gates of dawn" and a song of the second "A Saucerful of Secrets", when he had to leave the band due to his health problems, but his influence was always living in the band's music. I'm a fan of the Waters' era, but it's absolutely evident that without Syd Pink Floyd wouldn't ever exist. Syd was burned out by his own genius: he was too weak to stand the stardom and the pressure of the system, he wasn't prepared to be a legend. He was an inspiring figure for the music of many musicians in the world and if too gave homenage to his genius calling the principal character of their concept album Syd. In these days I want to remember him with the words his bandmate Roger Waters wrote... SHINE ON YOU CRAZY DIAMOND!

Pink Floyd will never be matched in style nor will it ever be replaced. I remember Syd's work. Our cover band plays Another Brick In The Wall which was in part a tribute to Syd. Genius is rare indeed!
