How short can a song be?
The one we're working on now comes in at slightly under 2 minutes. I think the Beatles had one or 2 like that, didn't they?

yeah Glenn, It is an impactful and big happening groove. The vocals are awesome, the music, instrumentation is in a way exotic. So for me this song has an amazing full and wide screen soundscape movie cinema effect. I have it or had it on the eYe now on eye 4. So will add it up on another. for another circle or two around the sun or indefinitely kudos for such a fine vibe that still resonates with me and many others!! it is snowing like crazy here. but rain tomorrow and then more cold and lots of snow Friday. strange weather patterns going on bryon

I think it was the great Larry Niven, author of so many great sci-fi classics who, in introducing a very short story said that stories have their own length. When it's done, it's done. I agree and have read a few books of flash fiction, which are often no more than a few pages long and yet can contain some powerful ideas. Dennis' song Summer Sun is less than two and a half minutes long. When Ron wanted more, Den said it's complete. I finally gave up trying to write more to a song I started long ago. It just never came. It still has only two lines, but it's terrific to me. If, once you've finished it, you decide there's more to it you can always add it or do a new version or any variation you'd like to try. It's yours to play with. Glenn

I listen to Guided by Voices, and used to listen exclusively to punk rock. There are songs that don't even surpass the one minute mark.

Loads of Beatles were under 2 minutes especially there early stuff. Something to do with the radio i think.
