My wife and I we're on vacation in Cabo San Lucas in May (2010) and we went out dancing at a club. There was a crowd of people there from New York and all night long they were screaming New York to the rest of the crowd. They were a bit rowdy but they partied all night long. So did we! One of them noticed me and smiled at me while he screamed New York. I screamed back "Earth" and before I knew what was happening the whole crowd surrounded us screaming Earth! Earth! Earth! I was intrigued by the way solidarity was built in the room by uniting everyone under one banner. Thus, the idea for Unity, Represent Earth was born. I started writing and producing it as soon as we got home from vacation. First thing was an African Chant in order to give it an ethnic feel. Then I dropped my patented Human Beat box beat on it and slammed a Cali Bay Area House beat on top of that. For the verses I went back to my funk/R&B/Pop roots in order to create tension. The release is the African/Beatbox/House bridge that gives it pop and then leads into a Black Eye Peas type of Rap session. The finale is a trip back to the bouncy bridge with some added Stoneman vocals to finish it off. It was a blast to write, produce and perform this song.
