I wrote beats on the MPC and structured them into a song. I then played improvisational drum takes on top of the mpc track to give it a spontaneous organic feel. The songs are heavily groove based and incorporate elements of improvisational playing, such as groove flips, implied metric modulation and polyrhythm. I will be playing these songs live by myself with an MPC and an acoustic drum kit in late June and early July 2023.
